Texas Holdem is the most widely played poker game in the world.  The game’s popularity has greatly increased in recent years.  The rules are simple but the game is extraordinarily complex.  Players commonly play Texas Hold Em hands online with many online poker rooms available to choose from.  Learning to play Texas Hold ‘Em may give you some income on the side!

The history of Texas Hold ‘Em is an amazing story. Long before it was played on poker downloads, the game started in Texas in the early 1900s.  It made its way to Las Vegas in 1967 when a group of Texas card players, including Doyle Brunson and Amarillo Slim, brought the game with them.  The 1998 movie Rounders was a huge turning point for the game as it introduced it to the mainstream audience.  This movie is considered a cult classic among poker players. It inspired thousands of people to sign up to us poker rooms.  The 2003 World Series of Poker was won by an online amateur by the name of Chris Moneymaker.  He gained his admission to the tournament via an online satellite on the pokerstars download.  This opened the floodgates to Texas Hold ‘Em since everybody felt they had a fighting chance at the game.  This huge growth in popularity after Moneymaker’s win is known as the “Moneymaker Effect.”  With this, the number of poker deposit transactions began to climb rapidly around the world.

The rules to Texas Hold ‘Em are rather simple.  As little as two players or as many as ten may sit around a Texas Hold ‘Em table. This remains true, even on modern internet sites like the full tilt poker download.  One player is designated as the dealer.  The player to the left of him is the small blind, and the player to the left of the small blind is the big blind.  A designated amount of money must be put up by the small and big blinds with the small blind putting in half the amount of the big blind.  The designated amount is called the “blind.”  All players are dealt two cards facedown.  The pre-flop betting round is started by the player to the left of the big blind; he must choose to fold, call (match the bet), or raise the big blind.  Play continues this way until all players have made a decision and all bets on the table match.  The flop comes out after the first betting round which is three community cards for all players to use.  Post-flop play begins with the small blind and ends when all players have made a decision that results in matching bets or folds.  If no betting has taken place, a player is allowed to “check” and pass their turn.  All players see two more community cards: one on the turn and one on the river.  Both these cards have a round of betting accompanied with it.  All players that are still in the hand show their cards after the river’s round of betting.  The best five-card poker hand wins.  Players may use both, one, or none of their hole cards if they so choose. There are many modern alterations to this formula, such as rush poker holdem, but the core game remains unchanged.

Texas Hold ‘Em is played worldwide and mostly on the Internet.  Playing poker from a computer is far superior than playing live to the more hands per hour, the ability to gather player statistics, track one’s own play, and multi-table.  You can also make extra money online with a pokerstars bonus.  With the greatest amount of poker traffic comes the greatest amount of fish and these sites have that.  Their bonuses cannot be beat in size or ease to clear.  If you haven’t already done so, give PokerStars or Full Tilt bonus code  a shot.  You will be glad you signed up!
